Cat located in the rear?

For reduction of "emissions" what effect will moving the cat to the rear of the car have?

I've never seen one at the rear on any car. I do not have A.I.R anymore, so hook up of the tube is not a requirement. I don't have testing here.
I doubt I'll do it anyway, just bored and am curious.

well you definitely got me thinking!?!?!? what about the oxygen sensor? won't that be all screwed up. If you move the cat to the back will it give you more low end or choke your engine? I have no idea. I'm just rambling.

cats are worthless at the back of a car far away from the engine. Cats need to be hot to work right. Putting them far away lets the air in the exaust cool too much.

oh yeah - there are plenty of companies working on electrically heated cats that heat up in like 30sec to reduce cold start emissions - its something I'd add to my dual exhaust to quiet it down a bit and be e good-
