Header Decision - Help
Header Decision - Help
I'm just about ready to drop a 383 into my 1987 Camaro but have been restling with a decision on an exhaust system, headers particularly.
What I have tenatively planned, is a set of Hooker Super Comp 1 3/4 primaries to a 3.0" cross-over and 3.0" back (no converter) to probably a Flowmaster with dual 2.5" tail pipes.
This entire plan is open for criticism but my question is in regard to my header choice. From a performance standpoint I believe the Hookers are an excellent choice (?) for my combo, but what about ground clearance and would the fit or layout of the cross-over compromise performnce, at least any worse than any other Header choice?
Would the Hooker Comp short style make a better installation?
Any voice of experience would be appreciated.
------------------
Engine: SBC 4-bolt #010, Balanced 383 Eagle crank assembly, 4340 crank and 4340 H-Bean 6.0 rods with SRP flat tops.
DART IE 200/72cc heads (10.1:1 C/R) with Harland Sharp 1.5 full rockers and Guide Plates
Comp Cams XE274H (230/236 .487/.490 110LSA 1,800-6,000 RPM).
Edelbrock RPM manifold with 750 (Vac/Electric) Holley.
MSD Pro-Billet (Vac) with 6AL box.
My best guess (Dyno 2000) is about 400HP and 430TQ??
