Major questions about cats!!!!!!!

I just order a Edelbrock 3" cat back for my car. Here are my questions:
1. If I take my cat off will I get a check engine light?
2. Will I get good back pressure (It is my only car, so it has to start everytime)
3. Will taking off the cat hurt my low end torque?
If the system is too loud without a cat I'll buy a Heddman cat when i get more money. just for your info the cat (that is on the car now) is beaten up pretty bad and i want to get rid of it.

I had no cat on my 84 Camaro for years and it ran great. I don't know what will happen with all the computer stuff on the 91 but you'll love the sound of your car without it. You won't mind the power either.

the guy at work said that on his 89 350 IROC he hollowed out the cat and ran straight pipes, he doesn't remember getting a check engine light. Anyone else taken off the cat on a 91 rs?

i have a straight pipe on my firebird with the same engine 5.0 TBI, and i don't get a light. it also sounds so much better. And you will lose some low end torque, but it will help you up top

i am taking my cats off too, it sounds soo much deeper and it helps out!
much more response, and the originals get pretty beat up and start to break, one of mine broke one time and clogged for a while, but finally unclogged so it runs ok now!

and i get the car back sat afternoon, oh wait, i get off work at 6.30 so i get it back then. oh well. i will take some more pics and get them developed and post all of them, i might even ask MEANYELLOWZ to come over with his digi camera and snap a few!
talk to you later
