AIR Questions

I plan on removing my AIR setup on my 91 Z. Does anyone have some pics of how to remove this junk, or else a step by step process laid out? I dont plan on putting in headers(yet)and I will be removing my cat, is there anything there I should be aware of? And do you have to burn a new chip to compensate for no AIR?

Jared

This is how I did it:

Disconnect the rubber hoses going to the tubes on the manifolds. Removed the check valves. Removed the AIR diverter valves. Removed the pump. Intalled a new different size belt (#968K6). I didn't remove the air tubes attached to the manifolds or the tube going to the CAT, but if you want you can go ahead and do this. I just left it alone cuz I will be installing headers soon so I might as well leave the tubes there. I also went to the hardware store and got caps to put on the tubes where the check valves were. I don't believe burning a chip is necessary. My engine seems to be running the same without one.

So do I need to cap off the holes in the manifold if I take those tubes off?
Thanks, Jared

Yep. A hardware store should have something for that.
