Side pipes in Thirdgen?

Side pipes in Thirdgen?

I was skimming through a Jeg's catalog today and noticed that they carry some nice looking side pipes. Has anyone put them on a thirdgen before and if so, what did it take to get the job done? I'm guessing that it would require some serious fabrication underneath. I just wanted some input as to if it might be a little easier then it looks. Please let me know if you have any info.

I've heard that those dynomax sidepipes that they sell in the Jeg's catalog are no good. I really don't suggest putting sidepipese on our cars due to ground clearance issues, but Hooker makes some nice ones if you have your mind set on them. I saw a thirdgen with the chrome pipes, and it looked really nice, i was surprised, but his clearance was non-existant. Your call though... I would go to the Holley site, and take a look at the Hooker Header pipes.

i heard sidepipes were illegal

i hope they are not though cuz i like the idea 2

I would think they would be illegal for our cars due to emission laws, but that is the only reason I can think of.

side pipes would have to scrape the ground over a pebble or you would have to put a 3-5 inch lift kit on the car. Worthless and no gain in power over available off the shelf aftermarket cat backs

well, what about just side exiting exhaust like the fella CarNDrvr has on his 1991 RS?????

you'd probably get noise violation tickets too. That's why Vipers don't have em anymore. They used to sound good and loud. Now they sound like strung out sewing machines.
