Want to convert to Dual Cats..please help

Right now I have the SLP 1 3/4" headers going into the y-pipe and through a 3" Random Tech cat then into a Mufflex 4" System. I was wondering if anyone had ever converted a system like this by using the dual cat y-pipe from SLP, 2 3" Random Tech cats into a 4" exhaust.

I think the single cat is killing me right now. I have a 406 solid roller cammed motor in there now making over 500 HP.

Thanks for any help.

Steve

I'd build a custom exhaust then. It'd save money if you built it yourself. How handy are you with a MIG/arc welder? I'd measure and cut a custom exhaust if i were you.

The only problem with that is the car already has the Mufflex 4" system which I can still use along with the SLP headers which I plan on still using also. I just want info on which cats to use and if anyone has done this with the SLP headers before.

I realize this is not exactly what your thinking about, but if you have that strong of a 406 why not install a true dual exhaust, something like I'm planning on. I'm running Hooker Super Competion Headers with CCI inserts in about 9" of 3" pipe with SuperTrapp adapter disk at the out end. I had to weld on a heat sheild to keep from melting my speedo, and shifter cables. These homemade mufflers drop off in about 5 min with just 3 collector bolts on each side for open header racing. This works pretty good, but it's a little on the loud side. So what I'm planning is to cut out about a 3 1/4" section of frame, reinforce the cut out area with steel plate, so I can run a true dual exhaust. I'm planning on Warlock mufflers under the seats. I will have to run tail pipes along my drive shaft because of the cross member of my SSM Lift Bars, but if you don't have this set up tail pipes will be a breeze. Just a thought to toss around in the old gray matter

I had thought about true duals, but this is a street driven car and has to at least have the visual effect of cats to pass spot checks.
