what to cover headers with??

I've got headmen headers and matching y-pipe. I don't want to spend the money to jet coat them right now. Is there any other opinions on what to use?? Jackets? Wraps?
I live in victoria BC so it's realitivly nice all year round. I only drive in the summer and never in the rain? would the wraps be good enough??

Hey Blue,

I live in Surrey. Nice to see some other Canadians on this board. I have no experience with either the wraps or the jackets. But I would think the wraps would work better since they are tighter to the pipes which should keep the heat inside them. Whereas the jackets have a little air gap between them and the pipes allowing the heat to get away from the pipes. That's just my thinking.

I got a question for you though. I was thinking about putting a set of hedmans on my camaro, how do you like yours, do they sound good and what about performance?

I have heard that header wrap will accelerate rust on the headers and voids any warranty from every header manufacturer. I have no experience with this, so take it with a grain of salt.

Just paint them for now and leave them uncovered. They'll be fine for a year or two until you can ceramic coat them.

Hey Bleeding knuckels. About the headers, I had no problems with the install, fairly simple, and ya gotta love the price. As for performance a huge increase especially through the 22-4000 rpm range. I have to tell ya i also removed the cats on mine so that might have helped with the increase. We don't have air police over here so i was lucky that way.As for the sound it gives a cool over all tone.
