2 ways which to go????
I have had headers for my car for a long time and finaly have got time to put them on. I live in Maryland and have emissions coming up this summer. I have hooker 1 5/8s hooker comp longtube headers. what I want to do is have a y pipe built with 2 cutouts ( right after the headers) And this is where i have my question. I am not running an egr on the car, and i have seen y pipes for new camaros with 2 convertors on them. Should I have 2 in the y pipe, 1 in stock location? Which way would work better? Thanks for any help everyone!!

Those headers don't have AIR do they? whichwon't help for emissions. I'd just run one cat, somewhere along in the intermediate pipe.

You will need to have AIR tubes on the headers to pass emmisions. Also, ask around before you put the cut out on. I've heard that in some states, if they see a cut out, they will fail you on the spot.

you know i didnt even think about them failing me for that. I dont have the air tubes but i figured 2 cats might be enough to make it pass, like i was saying a setup simialr to what new camaro had. Any ideas? Andyone know about the cutouts in MD? im really curious with that now too.
oh yeah, Mark your at maryland now right? Where you staying? My brother goes there and I am there a good bit, just curious.

If they do an under-hood visual inspection, they most likely will expect to see A.I.R. going to the headers.
If they do a visual for the cat, they will expect it/them to be in the factory location. That alone is going to give you grief, if you've ever seen what it takes to get the driver's side pipe over to the front of the stock cat location.

You can run one piece of hose from your air pump to your exhaust in stead of the air tube and it will suffice. Use a fitting like the one for the crankcase evacuation kits. We did that on my buddy's car and it passed. I do live in Ill. though it might be tougher where your at.

Yes, I go to UMD now, but I live off campus in Bowie. I've handed out about 4 flyers on campus now. Does your bro have a 3rd Gen?
