Would This Work, to help pass Emissions???

I am about to have new gears installed and at the same time I am getting new exhaust installe. My question is I have tried to pass emissoins 5 times, and I was wondering since I getting rid of my exhaust can I maybe create some kind of exhaust leak whether at the headers, the intermediate pipe, or the muffler to help reduce the amount of gases that exit my tailpipes.

Well you can but it most likely wont work. Just run your gas tank down to 1/4 and put like 8 bottles of dry gas in there.

I've tried that but with alcohol instead, didn't help.

Mark put a standard 195 thermostate in your car and then see what happens. You may not have a computer controlled system but the hotter your engine runs "to a point" the more completely the gas is burnt. You also might want to get a cat put on your system, make it removalble ..IE 2 sets of headder collectors for quick R&R.

Exhaust leak won't help you. They don't check the quantity of gas.

I hate to say this, but you probably need a cat. Modern cats aren't a significant flow restriction, and really help clean the air.

Bite the bullet and get a cat. You can likely pick one up for less than $100.

It's not really a money issue, it's more of a performance and sound issue to me. I can pay $14 a month to take the test until I pass so it's not big deal, it's just an idle test. By the time my car gets tested the temperature is around 200*, so I don't think I need to change thermostats. I readjusted the A/F mixture screws on the carb and that seemed to help, so maybe I'll keep tryin. I just figured if enough gas could escpape before they reached the collector hoses they attach to the tailpipes that it would reduce the readings.
