Flowmaster 80 series question

Hey guys, I have a quick question about my 80 series flowmaster. I think i read on here somewhere that internally the 2 1/2" inlet 80 series is identical to the 3" inlet 80 series. Anyone know if this is true? I'm just wondering because i have the 2 1/2" inlet now, but want to get a 3" I pipe. I figure i could just cut off the old inlet and weld a new 3" inlet on. Will this work? Thanks.

Yeah they should be the same case, so the internals should be the same.
