Good Idea or Not?
I dunno if i will actually do this, cuz the idea just popped into my head at school today. I got the idea when a friend showed me a picture of a '02 Mustang Cobra R (you know, the one with the monster wing?) and it looks like it'd be pretty cool on a thirdgen, it would be a true dual exhaust AND would probably have decent ground clearance. The basic idea is that it would follow the same routing as the single exhaust, since there appears to be more than enough room there for a dual exhaust. The tips would poke out from under the car (think '70 Challenger TA), both on one side and it would be somewere between the end of the door and the rear wheel well. It's basically sidepipes that both exit on the same side. I like this idea because it looks to me like there would be lots of room in the factory exhaust "tunnel" for a decent muffler and would probably sound really raspy since it is not too far from the engine itself like a rear exit would be. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

The chassis is your true limiting factor.
What headers were you planning on using with such a system? Long tubes tend to cause problems because they dump so far back. To really route it as proposed, shorties are probably in order.
Next comes the driver's side routing. The factory routes that side in front of the oil sump for a reason - that's about the only place it will fit up well enough to provide needed ground clearance. Shorties with the driver's side routed there is basically what the factory did with their dual cat setup.
If you put the muffler you show in the factory cat location, you have some shot at maintaining some ground clearance.
Routing the exit before the wheel is guaranteed to reduce ground clearance. Since you've got it going back in basically the factory single-pipe location, finish the job and take them over the axle and out to the rear bumper. The reduced interior noise level will be well worth the effort. Leave this dump-before-wheel stuff to the 60's and 70's cars (if even there).
All of this assumes, of course, that you can get away with eliminating the cat where you live.

I'm not sure about it clearing sfc's because i don't ave any.
The headers i plan on using were Hedman short tubes, so I don't have to worry about the LT header problems.

Theres a black GTA in town kinda like that. hooker LT's into a custom X pipe and a single flowmaster with a side exit.
Another Car has Regular SLP's and Y pipe. and a flowmaster where the Cat use to be and side exit befor the rear wheel.
Both cars sound Bad ***.

TPI383,
Have you heard either of these cars, especially the black GTA? I'm interested in how they would sound...
