So how hard is it to install SLP's

I have heard so often that it is to hard to install SLP headers. What all is involved. What makes them so hard. Would a custom car place have trouble. I was quoted $250 for headers (install price) from a high performance car place. If they are so hard to install I will have them do it. I know they are the best but what is the HP diff between TES and SLP and Hooker. Anyone know? Plus if you get any other header coated, it all evens up just about for a great set of headers.

Do a search on this and the Aftermarket parts board on SLP headers. There is enough there to keep you busy all day.

Poor workmanship seems to be the major problem. Most of these Cars the guys on this board are building. Will never see an improvement worth the hassle/price to swap from one to the other.

I didn't have much trouble at all installing the SLPs. I had already done the motor mounts, so that probably helped. The only difficulties I encountered were getting the far rear bolt on the pass side to start and remembering how the brackets went together. I took off more than I had planned and didn't have any pictures or drawings of how they went together. I had to rebend the flexible brake line so it wouldn't sit on the header, but that is easily done by hand. I dropped the headers in from the top. I also had to get spark plugs with 90* boots so they would clear the header. This was on my 82 carbed motor with v-belts and NO smog equipment, so that helped. It took about 1 1/2 days.
