How loud are flowmasters???

I want a pretty loud exhaust not just a little rumble I am talking old women with hearing aids are looking at you funny when you drive by. I dont really want the sound that a glass pack puts out but I have never really heard what flowmasters sound like I can get a flowmaster installed for under 200.00 that is everything I was just wondering if they are loud enough and worth there money?
Thanks

They are loud but they sound like crap, too tinny and hollow sounding for me. You can hear some on the main page of thirdgen.org

Well, you have a 454 and 40 series Blowmasters so it's gonna sound a little better than a car with a small block and an 80 series Flowsmasher. I dont like the sound of my 80 series, too tinny. Just my opinion but hey I know it all, hehe.

I want my car to have a DEEP rumble! no tinny hollow sound for me! Screw the flowblows and I'll get something else. Hows Hooker catback sound?

I just ripped out the cat and muff, so all I have at the end is a nice pair of $400 dollar pipes which are about 4.5" in diameter, it sounds beautiful.

It only sounds hollow if used with a gutted cat. Mine sounds great... no complaints. Quite loud, quite deep, no hollowness.

I have dual cats, Monza PaceSetter Cat-back and no muffler. Where the muffler is supposed to sit, it dumps the exhaist into a U pipe instead and the U creates the "stock dual tip look." It sounds great.... like the SLP Loudmouth, only louder and cheaper. It has a nice deep rumble and I get complimented all the time.

I can't vouch for every type of muffler, but my Flowmaster didn't sound very good until I got the headers put on. That's where the deep rumble comes from

i have flowmaster, set up much like that other muffler, and it soundss great (not as good as my old '82 camaro berlinetta with 355, headers, and two flowmaster mufflers, but still, very very good, and right now im only running around with a modded 305, i've actually been waved down a couple times and asked what i was running and that my car sounds great.

I wouldn't trust those sounds clips. I mean they give you an idea of what it sounds like but I find mine sounds alot better then those sound clips. I think its just the way they recorded it.

i have always loved my flowmaster. i dont think it sounds tinny at all. if you want tinny, listen to a LS-1 w/ borla. it doesnt sound bad, but my friend's LT-1 w/ 80 series flowmaster muffler on stock pipes sounds deeper and meaner than my other friend's
LS-1 w/ a whole borla cat back and SLP
y-pipe. that may just be the difference of LT-1 and LS-1. Im partial to flowmaster, but when i build a 92 RS sleeper i may go with somthing quieter to hide the cars power.
if you want loud go w/ a flowmaster.

i put an 80 Series Flowmaster on my 305 and it was louder than stock but just not loud enough for me. I then put on an aftermarket high flow Cat and the car sounds great. I love the Deep, Powerful sound! Not tinny sounding at all, and not too loud.

definitely not loud enough, for me anyway. but let us note the difference between "loud" and "mean." i think the mean sound is what we all are after- that 60's muscle car sound.

Where can I get a good highs flow cat for my 3'' Flowmaster system? btw, to answer the topic question... you definitely get an agressive tone, but the volume depends on piping, cats, headers, etc. etc. Still, at WOT, Flows ROCK

Ive tried other mufflers on my car when it had the factory style exhaust, dynomax sounded like butt, so did edelbrock. 2 chamber flowmaster w/ gutted cat had plenty of tone and wasnt annoying driving on the highway and through town. Plus, someone can actually hear you if you want to punk them out. (rustangs?)

they only sound "hollow" and "tinny" when you put the wrong size pipes on. If you don't have enough air going through them, it will reflect that fact. And budman, I'll take my flow setup over your blowlooking hick setup anyday.

How much does the sound differ from the dual 3 inch outlet flowmaster cat-back to the 3inch single outlet? I want to order the American Thunder system with the dual tips, Aggressive looks and aggressive sound.

i didnt like my shorty headers, high flow cat, and flowmaster 80 series because i thought it was too quiet. until i rode with the t-tops off the other day. my car must be insulated real good because it sounded really mean when i had the t-tops off.

I was wondering if the Flowmaster 40 series with dual outs and single inlet will work/fit on an 84 Z28 Camaro with stock pipes (single Cat.).

Also if anyone has any tips on hollowing out Cats. please E-mail me or post 'em.
