hey, ive got a 91 rs with 3 inch flowmaster cat back system. i dont know whether or not i should go ahead and finish it off with a set of hedders and a y pipe or not. will it make that much of a difference? what kind of gains should i expect, and what would be a good kind to buy?

How much difference did you see with the cat-back?
Headers, y-pipe, & cat will help. You'll be as limited by your heads and cam as you are now with the stock manifolds/y-pipe/cat. But, without the headers/y-pipe/cat, upgraded heads and cam would be severely limited.
