another SLP/header problem???

i guess this question could apply to anyone with headers and air conditioning. i have an 86 IROC w/ a/c on the driver side. has anyone gotten headers to fit without modifying the a/c bracket? Could i survive without this bracket. The bracket goes right over the manifold. I just called home and my headers have arrived with the install kit and cat adapter but I bought the kit that doesn't come with the bracket. He said the $110 kit was for A.I.R. and I didn't order a.i.r. What should I do?

$110 for the installation kit? I think I only paid about half that for mine, and that was with the AIR tubes. Anyway, I don't think you need a special bracket, the header already has a space to connect the original bracket. I'll have to check under the hood to make sure.

And yes, you do need the bracket installed in order to keep the AC compressor in place.

The bracket hovers the exhaust manifold and my concern is due to the fact that the header will probably require more space right out of the head.

I had to buy an aftermarket A/C bracket that was made for headers. Hacking off the one side of the existing bracket will cause you to throw belts.
