wow... bad day!!! tried installing slp
ok, i'm gonna need a a/c bracket, or hack my old one. but get this. driver side, i broke a bolt off in the head flush with the surface. i have about 8" of space to work with. i could use an easy out if i could get a smaller hole started. what kind if drill would fit in there??? also, i lost a header gasket. where can i get another one, not stock. it's a single gasket for each primary. don't you love when pieces just disappear. on the upside, i didn't have to move one thing out of the way on either side to slide the headers down. a big problem was the bracket for the power steering which was also connected to the first bolt on the manifold. other than that. not bad. Oh wait... i had to cut the pipe right before the cat because for the life of me, it would not slide out. heated, hit, pulled, bent, no budge. so now i have about 3" sticking out of the cat. how the heck should i get it out??? please help me out guys. much appreciation. tomorrow will be a long day.
SLP.... 550 for headers and no instructions. WHERE DO I USE THE FIRE SLEEVES?

Doh! Sounds like it would have been easier to take the engine out to put those headers on
Im pretty sure header gaskets are only sold in pairs, I know how you feel, I lost plenty of bolts and stuff this week, many trips to the hardware store. Take it REAL easy on the easy out, I just broke one of those things and it just made it more of a pain.. soak that sucker in penetrating oil(might I suggest PB Blaster?) and heat it up before you try to pull it out. Use the absolute largest, strongest, most expensive easy out you can get, I know you don't want any more work. A dremel may fit in there better than a drill, thats how I managed to get to one of the same bolts last week. Just don't use any battery powered sissy drill, been there done that
Oh, and I don't think the stock headers have gaskets. The cat should be welded onto a pipe that is bolted onto the car, you need to unbolt that pipe.. its gotta come out with a hanger attached to it. If you lay under there for a few minutes you will figure it out, I had to swear at that thing plenty. Just cut the extra off, I still need to take my old y-pipe and cat to an exhaust shop and have my old 3-inch cat welded to my new y-pipe, Im running open headers right now.
What is a fire sleeve? What a/c bracked did you break?

a hose about 3/4" thick. two of them. same length. look like they could withstand high temperatures. where would they go? dipsticks?
i didn't break an a/c bracket, but the one that overlaps the exhaust manifold and is bolted to the first two primarys will not clear the header.
tell me what you tink of this idea. the gaskets from SLP were metal both sides. i lost one and bought a fel-pro kit which has one side metal, one paper. the guy at advance recommended gluing the paper sides together so that front and back are metal. sound ok?
talking about this just got me to go out to the garage @ 1 in the morn and attack this biatch.

I had to bend my AC bracket (mini sledge) and as for the fire sleeving I'm not suer where it goes either, none of my plug wires look close enough to need it...wire looms worked well

The hoses will help you connect the AIR tubes correctly. The SLPs' come straight up off the tubes, as opposed to the factory 90* hoses. Swap out the canisters and attach your new lenghts of hose.
