Questions on making a straight pipe
Questions on making a straight pipe
Ok. I'm removing my cat, in favor a straight pipe. And I've got a couple questions:
1. How long of a pipe? I've seen one guy say 18" Does anyone agree/disagree?
2. What do you do with the A.I.R. pipe? Plug it?
3. Is 3" pipe with an expanded 3" ID on one side correct for a 350 car?
That's about all I can think of. I'm doing this tonight, so if you all could comment, I'd appriciate it.

I've got a dual-cat car. I'm guessing yours is a single, since your talking 3"pipe.
Length - measure it yourself, I dont know if its a bolt-in (flanged) cat. The dual-cat cars are weldin. If you plan on just buying some pipe and welding it in then get 18", but I dont think a cat would be much longer then a foot.
I dont know about the AIR tubes, but I wouldnt plug them off.
I would just match the pipe size of your cat, if its single I think its a 3"

If you weld it, I believe the cat is 16 inches. If you slip it over the other pipes, 18 inches. Either way you can make it work.
Don't plug the air tubing. You could cut it off.. but air is going to be coming through there as long as your smog pump is connected. If you want, you could just disconnect the line from the diverter valve and remove the metal air tubing to the cat. Air will still go through, I don't think it will affect anything though.
Thats the right size if your car is the same as mine.
