Tech article on A.I.R. and Smog Removal

Does anybody know of a good tech article on any website on how to remove the AIR and smog pump.... if nobody does.... someone needs to make one quick! dont forget to inlcude the gm part # for the smog delete pulley, and exactly what all pipes and hoses to remove, and dont forget to add nice pictures any help is appreciated!

dude just do this. this is what i did, i took al the hoses of, smog pump off. took the air crap of the headers and put brass plugs in. mmmmmm does it run beautiful now. but yeh just were ever u c a hose connected to the air smog crap just take it of. u wil be amazed on how much room u have

hehe thats what i was wondering (performance affect and smog)...I just took all mine off the other day (headers didnt have AIR connections)...anyway it is really wierd being able to actually see my engine

Ive heard you need eight 3/8" brass plugs to plug up the AIR/$HIT system is this true?, and if so where the hell do i get that at?

they are 1/4" plugs and they are for plumbing so go to menards, truevalue, lowes, anywhere and ask for them. they are like $.49 a piece. get 8 of them. and you dont need any delete pulley, that is for the AC. not smog. and i doubt you will be able to pass the smog test without this stuff so dont do it unless you are in a smogless area.

Well, there actually is a smog pump delete pulley if you want to remove the pump itself. I'd have to check at home to find the number though - or call up Dal and ask him...

If you had a belt for each accesory like I do than you wouldn't need a delete pulle but I would also say just leave the smog pump alone... if you need to pass inspections, this will be a dead giveaway... at most just hack off some hoses or maybe gut the pump to make it look like it's functional... I would say you're looking at maybe 5 Hp gain max... I have my emmissions deleted currently, but that was the doing of the previous owner and I will need them come next expection... just a pain in the *** for me.
