SLP Header install Questions.......
I've got an 84 Z-28 w/ stk exhaust. I'm probably going to go with SLP headers and a Random High flow cat and SLP cat back. I've heard form an couple different articles and posts here that the driver side can be a bear so much that the steering column had to be moved. Can anybody confirm this? Has everybody had these problems? Was the steering column just moved out of the way temp. or is it a permanent relocation? If so how is this accomplished??

i just got a set of 1 3/4 stainless headers.
drivers side went in no problem from underneath. pass side went in from the top.
i have nothing in the car for emissions stuff or stock accessories/brackets, but had no problems getting them in. on the other hane with my brodix angle plug heads i found they will not fit, i even put a couple small dings in 3 or the pipe to no avail! wanna buy a new set with a few clearancing dents in them? i am going with super comps now........errrrrrhhhhhh this is irratating!

I have factory exhaust manifolds and SLP everything else. It sounds great, is reliable, and has good flow. All tubing is 3" in diameter. I have SLP 1 5/8" headers I was going to install, but they use a different y-pipe than the one for stock exhaust manifolds, so I am going to sell them. If you don't have the cash to get the whole system, start with the cat-back package first, most bang for the buck!

I put in slp 1 3/4'S about 2 months ago. I did have to move the steering shaft thing out of the way which is very easy theres one or two bolts you undo and then slide it out of the way. After that it took like 5 mminutes to drop the header in

Right. just unbolt it, slide it ou,t and drop the headers in and put the shaft back and your done with that. Some people have moved their whole steering column over a bit or something like that but I didnt need to.

I can't see SLP making a product that you have to move it for good.....
Hah... well, i used a dremel to grind my steering shaft down,and it still rubs a tiny bit when i take hard corners...
It depends on what kind of SLP headers you buy....i heard the 3 into one type (or something) don't rub.
