Attn. five7kid, or anyone with 2055

I am in the process of changing my exhaust and was looking for some hints/tips for installing the hooker 2055. any help would be appreciated. thanks

I may not be the best source for installation tips, because I "cheated". I had the engine out for the other mods, put the headers on and spark plugs in, then reinstalled the engine. So, installation the "normal" way, with that being all you're doing - I'm not much help.

One thing I did do, after the engine was in, was to do a fit check of the y-pipe, then opened up the collector ball flange to the ID of the y-pipe down pipes, centered where they connected. This, in my opinion, gives a better flow path. Hooker said they have a small opening in the ball flange "to insure a good seal". I haven't had sealing problems.

Other than that, get a high-flow, direct-fit '86-'90 TPI cat & cat-back to complete the system.

change your sparkplugs when the headers are out. some are next to impossable to change
