Hey, i looked at my exhaust running from the headers to the cat, and it looked more square shaped then round. is this just because its old and has been abused? or is it just cheap GM parts?

Wow man, you got the rare square high performance y pipe, they only made a few of those! GM was doing a study on how well square piping flowed comparent to circular, your car must have been one of the few that was equipped with it. Do you have the SQR RPO code? Is the first digit of your VIN a "G"?
