fabricated 3 inch y

What would be the difference in horse power and performance compared to hooker 2055's if I had a 3 inch y fabricated and pipe of the same back to a 3 inch converter [carsound] and concluding with 3 inch to muffler. Does the headers themselves make a dramatic change or just bigger y pipe I found a shop who will give y and back to converter for 150.00 . Olso I would have hi-flow muffler.

The down-pipes for the 2055 y-pipe are 2-1/2". When they come together, it is 3". There wouldn't be any advantage whatsoever to making the downpipes 3" (because that's bigger than the collectors).

The y-pipe is the star of the Hooker 2055 show. You don't need to change anything about it. But, the combination of the headers and y-pipe make it the great system that it is.

Of course, the change they will make depends upon the system you now have, of which you said nothing.

I GUESS I'M A LITTLE LOST ON TERMINOLOGY AND SUCH. SO A 3INCH Y WOULD NOT HELP MY LG4 SYSTEM ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE I MENTIONED EARLIER.

buy the headers with the 3 in y-pipe and get an entire 3 in exaust system. Thats what you wnat to do. Dont mess witht eh stock manifolds, cat, and cat back exaust, it aint worth it. Theyre incredibly restrictive
