exhaust "donuts"
ive been hearing this really annoying sound coming from my engine bay when i accelerate, it sounds like heat is escaping from the front of my engine, and upon decelerating i have alot of popping and grumbling. i was told to replace my exhaust donuts by a few people. what kind of work does this entail? is it something i should try doing or should i take it to a shop and have it done there? im decent when it comes to working on cars, and will be changing my intake manifold in the next few days. thanks

It's pretty easy. Just gotta jack the front end up pretty high and have some long extensions. You just seperate the y-pipe from the manifolds and replace the "donuts" there.
The main problems will probably be:
1) seized nuts - solved with a little PB Blaster
2) bits of dirt, rust, dust, and crud falling in your eye - wear eye protection
If things won't move out of the way quite enough, you can loosen the intermediate pipe from the cat to give the whole assembly a little wiggle room. Just don't forget to tighten it back up.
