Exhaust Questions

Ok guys, I'm sure i'm about to ask questions you've all heard before, but I need to know. I have a 89 RS 305 TBI. I want to put a different exhaust on it. Now my question is, do i need to replace all piping, or just the muffler? Also, any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you very much guys!

It all depends on what you really want your exhaust to do for you. If you just want sound, then a muffler swap will fit the bill, and wont break the bank ethier. If you want to see some sort of gain get some bigger mandrel bent plumbing in there as well (2.75-3") preferred. That wont give you more then 10hp on a stock or slightly modded mill, but if you want even more you can upgrade to a set of Edelbrock TES headers for somemore punch and added sound, and a High flow cat always helps too. That will run your wallet some though, so think it out first. I love having a full exhaust that lets my car breathe. Hope this helps!

change all the piping. Its a crimped 2.25" garden hose.
