Does anybody have regular exhaust pipe running out the back - not tips...???

I am thinking of just running 3 inch pipes out the rear of my car slash cut. I don't feel like tips, nothing chrome...just fat pipes out the rear, painted with silver high heat paint.

Has anyone done this???

No pics of wussy 1 1/2 inch pipes either, don't waste your time, I've seen plenty of that.

No pics of chorme tips either...PLEASE! I have some on my 91'...I know what they look like!

No one?

There has to be a few of you out there with 3 inch tubing just coming out the rear. Even bigger I would presume.

here's a 3inch exhaust pipe hanging out of my 84 camaro.... I had straight pipes for a while but didn't like the sound.

That's not what I am talking about...

I have the same setup as the pic you just posted.

I am talking about a slash cut piece of exh. pipe ( 2 1/2 or 3 inch) that extends out past the rear bumper/gfx a few inches....just like a chrome tip.

edit: kinda like how the Random Technology setup for 4th gens looks.

No pics but I've seen some cars like that and it looks fine until the pipes are hot and water hits them. Then they are hard to keep clean looking--kind of like old headers. My buddy does exhaust so that is where I saw them. I don't have a tip on my exhaust but it's 4 inch pipe so a pic wouldn't help---good luck!

I was gonna paint mine with silver high heat paint for the corrosion issues.

A long time ago when I made the 1st exhaust for my bird, I went the budget route and made slash cut tips like the original ones. The pipes off the muffler were 3".

No that's not what I'm looking for.

I'm not talking about hide-away stock-style pipes. I mean 3-3.5 inch pipes coming striaght out the back. Not chrome or anything, just like if you took 3 inch pipes with 90 degree bends in them and hooked them up to your muffler, then pushed them up toward the bumper as high as possible, with a slash cut end sticking about 3 inches or so out from the bumper.

That is what I'm lookin' for.

Guess what fellas!

Got it done yesterday. It looks bad to the bone. Not flashy, just beastly. I got dual 3 inch coming about 1.5 inches out from the bumper slash cut. I painted it with aluminum color high heat paint.
I'll post pics as soon as possible. It's a cheap way to go and still look good. It cost me 60 bucks for both tailpipes.

I'm thinking about yanking my tips off (basicly, stock shape, possition and size, only old looking chrome), and putting some turn downs before the rear, so that nothing is visible... I get tired of seeing the "variety" of tips on camaros hehe!

Here's mine. No tips because they only make a 5 inch exit for 4 inch pipe.

do they make a y-pipe? i mean, running the hedman y-pipe to this I-pipe would be kinda redundant since the hedman y-pipe is 2 1/2" if they don't make one, do you think that they would?

this would probably be by far the best alternative to running true duals...what series flowmaster comes with that? i didn't see a WHOLE lot of info on their site, other than it costs alot ($525). i think it would be worth it though on a car that is on the street most of the time but runs really well on the track. i may have to look into this when i build my 383...

Mine is Custom made by a friend who does Chassis work. Completely hand made with a 4 inch single chamber race muffler. If you lived closer I could hook you up. He's charging 450 for my set up complete.

Think I got what you're looking for.

Not the greatest pics, but here's my plain steel 2 1/2" pipes with slash cut coming from my SLP 2-on-the-left muffler.

I don't have tips on mine, just silver painted pipes.

Gotta spray them once a month or so though. They look good IMO.
