Is Factory Y pipe anygood?

I call it a y pipe but its more like a T. can I buy shorty headers that will bolt up or should I get a header set with the actual y pipe? It is an 88 GTA 350 so it is 3 inch but it is crimped in the bends. will there be much difference in performance?

Aftermarket headers won't bolt to stock Y pipe. Biggest stock size is 2.75"

ya also if u look near the oil pan, you will see how the pipe is crushed to fit, and looks VERY restrictive.. like 60% diameter of what it should, at least its that way on my car, its all weird shaped, i have a pic, but i don't have it developed yet. so the y-pipe is essential.

also, u should notice a gain in power, MPG, and even better exhaust tone. as well as lower underhood temps,

Stock Y pipe SUCKS. You will see just how much when you see the new one. I was stunned when I set the old beside the new. GM should have done better than that.
