everybody have heat shields on starter

everybody have heat shields on starter

hey i'm buying headers...just wanted to know if it is worth buying a heat shield for my starter.... also...i heard some guys switched to a smaller starter.....anyone have clearance problems..my starter is on the pass. side.... yay...

hey rob, spend the extra ten bucks, it beats paying 50 for a new starter. plus make sure the headers dont touch it cuz it wil pinch it and wont let the thing spinout.

If you want to solve the heat soak problem completely - get a remote mount starter solenoid kit. Summit sells one or you can just go to the parts store and pick up a Ford fender mount solenoid and a battery cable that will go from the new solenoid down to the old starter solenoid. Then just short out the old solenoid with a piece of metal of some sort and you're done. The Summit kit comes with everything you need and also includes instructions if you are worried about figuring it out. There is also a Technical article on this modification on this site.
