OK im taking my stock TBI thing and customize it to my cowl hood.... ok my question is should my exhaust sound louder now that the filters more open?

To answer your question my exgirlfriend certianly did after we broke up. Seriously though if the cowl funtions properly it should allow more air in to the filter and therefore deliver more power as long as the fuel system can keep up.

i personally hate the way the tbi sounds w/o the stock air cleaner + silencer ring. Too loud and i have lots of vortex shedding from the throttle blades with mine too. it makes some of the most obnoxious wistleing sounds at part throttle that ive ever heard. At start up is the worst when the IAC is open. Completely drowns everything else out. I dont know if all this will apply to you if you have a decent cam. My engine pulls 20+ inHg of vacuum with the edeljunk swizzlestick cam i have so that really helps the noise level. Sounds nice at WOT, though. Kinda deep.
I put a open air cleaner on mine it got a lil louder but not much.SpdFrk's Camaro

More air = better combustion = bigger "bang" in the cylinder = louder exhaust (probably not much louder though)
ok so i did this, theres just a bit of a difference by ear on idle...
and when you get on it you can hear and feel the differences
it also put the exhaust more in tune..
tighter and more responsive

Nothing really special to look at, im going to cut the lid just like in the above pic, and put a seal around the TBI thing, and i have to fabricate a peace of aluminum for the top part of the hood and cut a hole so the filter can suck all that lovely nice cold air in
