Exhaust Set Up

Here is what I had in mind for my 92 RS 305
TBI:
Hooker Competition Headers (shorty style 1 5/8" primaries & 3" collector)
DynoMax Super Converter (3" in/out)
Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-Back System (3" in 2.5" out)
Flowmaster 80 Series Muffler (single 2.5" in dual 2.5" out)

Keep in mind that this is a daily driver, I am not shooting for faster 1/4 mile times. I just want my car to breathe and sound better. I will not be swapping a 350 for my 305 either.

I do have one concern regarding this set up, why is the inlet 3" & the outlet 2.5" for the flowmaster cat-back, should it be 3" from headers to tips? I got the set up for the cat-back & muffler from Flowmasters application guide.

Let me know what you guys think of this set up.
Thx.

How the hell does your cat-back have a 3 in. inlet, but your muffler has a 2.5 inlet? They are both the same.

Go with the Hooker cat-back, it rocks. Love the sound and performance out of it. The flowmaster 2.5" outlet I believe means that the tailpipes will be 2.5". But I would go with the Hooker cat-back.

The cat back has a 3" inlet and a 2.5 in outlet that is why the muffler has a 2.5 inlet. Duh!

Get a catback not just the muffler. Trying to make the muffler work right is more trouble than its worth.

The flowmaster 80 series muffler is shipped with an inlet that is 2.5" wide, but then opens up to 3" right before it goes into the muffler. Any exhaust shop can just cut out the 2.5", thus making it a 3" inlet which can easliy be welded to a 3" pipe.
