shape of cat inlet, HELP

Ok, i wanna run a 3" pipe inside my cat, since its hollow anyways, so i don't have turbulence and bad sound. but iv never seen inside the Stock cat, however i saw a few pictures of aftermarket cats, and the shape of the inlet, after it bolted up, was eliptical (oval) shaped. are the stock ones like that? if so how hard is it to run a 3" pipe inside of it?

Get a used Catco. They are perfect to put a 3" pipe right through.
