Help - Exhaust set-up
I was about to order the Edelbrock TES headers and the Edelbrock RPM series cat-back system but I was not sure which ones to order for my car. I have a 92 RS 305 TBI and I want to upgrade the exhaust (headers, catalytic converter, cat-back system) to 3 inches. The headers for my car has the 1 5/8 primaries which is what I need but only has a 2 1/4 collector, do I need an adapter for this to fit a 3 inch inlet/outlet cat? Now for the cat-back, there are 2 choices, one is for camaros with the stock 2 3/4 inch I pipe and the other is for camaros with the stock 2 1/2 inch I pipe and both has the 3" inlet and dual 2 1/2" outlet. My issues are:
1) will these headers only work with my stock catalytic converter, what if I want to change to a 3" inlet/oulet cat will they still work
2) can I use the headers for a 1990 IROC 5.0/5.7 TPI which has the 3" collector on my 92 RS 305 TBI
3) why does it matter what size I pipe my car has, isnt it going to be replaced with a 3" pipe that is included with the cat-back system
Please advise, I really want to upgrade my exhaust but I just want to make sure that I order the right parts.
Thanks in advance for your inputs!

Just get everything for teh TPI. Go full 3". The only thing that won't work with the TBI is that you wont have the heat riser on the drivers side exaust. Its not a big deal though. You could probably take the stock one off and tack weld it there for inspection time.

they both fit but the size of the pipes are different and the TPI headers don't have the heat riser on them. The TPI headers have dual 2.5" Y pipe to single 3". TBI headers have dual 2.25" to single 2.5". I got the TPI headers made by hooker. Dual 2.5" Y to single 3"

ya they came with the Y pipe and all hardware but I got better aftermarket gaskets to replace the cardboard ones.
