unique question on exhaust :)

okay guys here's a debatable question for you.
okay i just bought a 92 Z28 350 TPI auto about two months ago. Now the exhaust on it SUCKS! It was VERY bad when I bought it muffler was all rusted through there was a giant hole in it heldup with coat hanger wire it was just BAAD! LOL. now, stop laughing, it gets better.
okay the exhaust fell off the other day... it was hanging by a tiny piece of metal so I took it right off at or around the rear differential.
Now is it possible I would LOSE power because of this? cuz I am pulling dead even with stock 5.0 mustangs and i'm a 350 TPI... mind you I have a vacuum leak to fix and new plug wires etc. to install....

well... would I be losing power cuz of this?

thanks
garett

OH by the way my Hooker Aerochamber cat back will be here in 4 days.
i'm just curious if I will gain hp with the cat back since it's replacing basically an "open" exhaust.

thanks

No, you aren't losing power because of "not enough backpressure".

If anything, the open factory intermediate pipe is providing more restriction than a good aftermarket cat back w/muffler.

A stock 350 TPI running even with a stock 5.0 is about right. Want to get 48 cubes in front of him? Headers, cam, runners, tuning.

Fix your vacuum leak.

Hooker claims better flow than open pipe. It will sound better and more than likey run better with the cat back. you should be able to beat a stock 5.0, but one with mods will get you unless you have mods. I can out run stock 5.0 and 4.6 stangs easily on the street in my Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited...lol
