If it were me I'd go with a Hooker Aerochamber, but if you still want to go with flowmaster I'd go with the 40 series.

The 40 is the loudest when there is 2 of them. I run the 80 series, and next to open headers I like it. It isnt way to loud when in town but open it up above 2500 and it sound nice.
Hooker is also a good option but I have only heard of them and not heard one.

well i have an 80 series and it's pretty good, not too loud on the inside of the car, but outside it's pretty damn loud... sounds really bad ***. but then again i haven't really heard a 40 series on a camaro so i can't really tell you which is louder. i know some will say 40 and others will say 80.

The Flowmaster tech I spoke with said the 80-series is "a very agressive tone." You can go to their site at FLOWMASTERMUFFLERS.com i think.....or just flowmaster.com and click the links that explain each series...when you load up, check the charts on the bottom left....it shows bar graphs of their internal and external resonance.
The tech also said that the 80 series is a crossflow and is designed for our cars, and the 40 series is not designed for our cars.....and if you have the same car as myself (91 RS LO3) then I would go for the 80 series, will run you about 100 bones. HE said the 40 series are designed to run North-South (parallel to the body of the car)...this doesnt go to say that some of these folks with the 40 series did/didnt mod their exhaust in some way to fit that muffler.
I just bought the 80 series and will be installing it this weekend, Ill be sure to post results (im removing my edelbrock #5009? to put on my 83...the edelbrock has a longer casing which would lead me to believe to allow for a louder tone, either way, ill post)

I have an 80 series Flowmaster....alot of people that ride with me think it to loud..then I dump the cutout open (McCord Power Plate) and they get headaches..lol...but the 40 series is louder then the 80 series by far. Hookers sounds great....and Borla sounds great too...

40 series is the loudest. it is very possible to use it in the stock muffler location mounted transversely, you will just have 1 tailpipe and not 2. the 80 series is also loud, and you will be able to have 2 tailpipes. the charts on their website represent tone, and not sound level.
