Catback install questions...
Ok now this may not happen for a bit, but i found a guy locally that has a dynomax catback (basically brand new) for sale for like 175. Now on the install, is this all bolt on or is there some welding going on and if so what would a midrange shop charge to install.

Without knowing what kit it actually is I'll try to give you some advice.
You can buy a brand new kit from www.jegs.com or www.summitracing.com for ~$155.00 Add another $6 for packaging and handling and you can have a brand new one. Why buy a used one for more?
Again...... this is based on him selling you the same one I have.
If there's more to it, then it might be a good deal.
Put it this way.
If it's a Super Turbo muffler with 2.5" in, and two 2.5" out, then don't bother. Offer him $75 or maybe $100.
If it has an Ultra Flow with 3" in, and two 2.5"out, then it's a descent buy. But that all depends on what Ultra flow it is. Most of the Ultra flows cost around $100 just for the muffler, so I think you'd be OK.
You'll be able to tell what muffler it is because it's stamped on the outside.

Gotchya, good info to know, ill ask him which it is. I don't have a credit card so its still kinda worth it (if its the 155) to spend another 20 bucks and a little driving to pick one up. It has like 2-300 miles on it, we aren't talking about a few thousand miles so it is basically new. Still, ill ask him the details.

That's too much for a used Dynomax, since they are fairly cheap new.
As far as the install goes, it's easy. I have the same one on my car. I did have to get different bolts to bolt the flange to the cat and that's it, I needed longer ones. I had it done in about 2 hrs by myself. It will be easier if you drop the rear to get the pipe over the rear axle. I didn't drop the rear, but I did have to do some magic to get it in there. If you have access to a lift it won't be a problem. Leave all the pieces loose, get it straight, then tighten it all down.

well since i have a seriouse lack of a jack and anyplace to really work on it (parkinglots are not safe places to be under a car) i will find a shop to do it for me. Which brings in part of my question, about how much would it cost at a moderatly priced shop to install it.

I'd guess 2-3 hours labor. One to rip the old stuff out and maybe 2 to put the new stuff in.
