Exhaust SMOKES real bad, what could it be???

OK, i didn't know where to put this post, but my exhaust is smoking real bad now all of a sudden. it doesn't do it all the time, but it does most of the time. It mainly does it while idleing and has a horrible smell too. I also tend to smell a straight gas smell too at times. The color seems to change too. Sometimes it seems like it's blue which to me indicats the valve rings, but other times it seems like a dirty smoke. Could it have something to do with the carb? Please let me know. Thank you.

Shawn

The blue start up smoke usually means a seal or guide problem. When running rich you'll get smoke too, but I forget the color. Also this could explain the smell of gas.

Black smoke is way to rich.

I get both from my camaro when I 1st start it in the morning or after long periods of sitting, starts blue then goes grey/black until all the cyls start firing lol

I was gonna put it in the general teck too, but couldn't find it? Also, I forgot, it's a 91 tbi motor if that helps at all.

If it is a thick white smoke that is wet and humid when you let it blow over your hand your head gasket is leaking. Antifreeze is getting into the combustion chamber if this is the case. Smells burnt sweet.

yeah, really sounds like you mite have a blown head gasket, i blew mine in my IROC, whatever you do dont drive it!!!, if the headgasket is blown, dont drive it because the oil and anti-freeze mixing together may cause you to spin a bearing, have somone look at it before you drive it anymore
