Is using 1 3/4" headers on a 305 really that bad?

Is using 1 3/4" headers on a 305 really that bad?

I know they say you're not supposed to because you'll use low end torque. Is this the only side effect? How significant is the loss? I only ask because I'm looking into getting a full exhaust, but I know sometime in the future I'll be building a 385 (already have the machined block), so I'm trying to figure out if I can just buy the 1 3/4" headers so I can just use them when he motor is done. I don't really see he motor being done until a year from now or so unless I come into some money, so I'm not sure if I should just get the 1 5/8" headers then get bigger ones when the motor is done or what? Please advise. Thanks.

Everyone on this board that has done the SLP 1-3/4 on a 305 have never said a bad word about it.

The loss is hardly noticable for all the mid to upper range gain you get.

What?! 13/4" on a 305 thats nuts, take them off and send them to me immediately
I have heard that they are to big for a 305, but there is a guy down the street from me who has the slp 1 3/4" oh his 305 firebird in his car is pretty fast. Its got enough torque left rip up tires too, so it didnt loose all of it.
