open cutout question

I recently installed an electronic exhaust cutout. the other day as i was driving, i found that it wouldn't shut the butterfly, leaving my cutout wide open. upon a quick visual inspection i couldn't find anything wrong with it. my friend says that i better fix it fast b/c leaving it open all the time will damage the valves? will it or am i ok til i get around to it? thanks

I really don't think it will hurt....I've had my cutout for like 7 months.....usually open (not all the way) but I've never had any problems with it or my engine........what kind of electronic cutout did you get???

where did you put it? I have mine where my cat used to be, I run it open most of the time, unless you are running open headers or something you dont really have to worry about sucking a valve, if yours is where mine is, or farther back then you'll be fine, you have enough pipe that the cold air isnt going to be sucked back so quick and screw up a valve or something.

I guess all the guys at the track buy valves every week since a lot will run open headers.

As long as the cut out isn't like around the primary tubes on your headers, you'll be fine.

Thanks for your replies guys. My cutout is actually right were my cat used to be. The motor on my electronic plate took a dive, so i'm just gonna run it open until another one comes in.
