Ok I keep hearing that the LG4 exhaust manifolds are small and I was wondering if it's just the manifolds that are small or are the exhaust ports coming out of the engine also smaller?

It's the opening to the y-pipe that's smaller.
Of course, now you're going to make me get up in the garage attic and compare the LG4 to LB9 just to be sure. The picture in my mind, though, is that the ports are the same size.

Oops, I forgot to check. Perhaps after Test & Tune tonight (earlier if it gets rained out).

No need I found some manifolds off what appeared to be a 350 tpi at the junk yard along with this freakinly huge Y-pipe and yes the ports are the same but the exit hole is bigger.
