Spintech or Flowmaster Mufflers?

I am looking at a cat back system that has the option of a spintech or flowmastr muffler. I have heard that the spintechs sound great and perform just as well i have not heard as well about the flomaster. Which do you think is better? I care mostly about sound and performace, and i like loud really loud as long as it is still leagal

I would also extremely be thankfull for any sound or video clips you could post or e-mail me at Raptere@aol.com

i assume youre talking about the mufflex catbacks. i think they have sound clips on their site. you might make sure and check the mufflers they use are street legal if your car will be inspected. they may not be, but i doubt youd ever get caught. anyway, my vote is for the flowmaster.

I had a Flowmaster Cat-back and muffler on my '85 Z28. I absolutely loved it! Made my 305 sound like a big block!

I have a Flowmaster exhaust on my car and it sounds really great. It's really loud when I get on it and pretty loud when idleing. I would say go with Flowmaster.

Never heard any spintech exhuast systems before....I too have Flowmaster...I'm happy with it. You can see my exhuast set-up in my signature. One thing I do know is that with a 5.7....the flowmaster exhaust is much louder then on a 5.0. Don't get me wrong, they sound great on 5.0's....just not as loud as on a 5.7. Good luck with your decision

Everyone tells me my exhaust sounds awesome or bad *** and I have a Flowmaster 80 series with no cat and an L69, and it will have headers soon. I'm sure the spintech is a great product to though.

There is a kid in my town that has a 2000 SS with a Spintech exhaust. It sounds pretty good, but he also has some work done to the car (heads, cam, etc.). They both sound good, but they also both sound different. The Flowmaster sounds a little more like a classic muscle car thats packing a hot motor. The spintech sounds kinda strange but at the same time really good. Its really up to what you want your car to sound like.

I have dual 12" Spintech Pro Streets mufflers on mine & it is LOUD. Everybody loves it. It sounds like a big block with a lot of cam. Of course if you drive it every day it would be annoying. Spintech makes many different types, most would be quieter than the Pro Streets are.

Spintech is a single 4"in and dual 3" out. The flowmaster is 3"in and single 3" out with the mufflex systems. Im putting my 4" mufflex system in tomorrow and chose the spintech.

Hey, good choice. What is the part number on your spintech? The spintechs are a bit more expensive than flowmaster just because you get what you pay for, as in quality. But if you like the flowmaster sound, then go with that. You'll be happy with the unique clean sound of the spintech. 4" in, jees that's huge! I've got the 3" in, dual 2.5" outlets. -89IRO

I do not know the model number because it's coming with the whole mufflex system. I do know it' sa race serie muffler. Yup I need the 4" exhaust to push out all that HP. I have a hacked ypipe that is 3"to 2" then back to 3". People told me that I can gain up to about 90hp with the proper exhaust. Pretty dissapointed with the 13.1s Et and the mods in my new motor.

Yes, Evil has a sound clip, do a search, he's all over the place. Also, on their website, they've got sound clips, but not on a 3rd gen. I know there isn't as much info out there about them since everyone hops on the flowmaster wagon and they are just determined they are the best. Also, they do tons of advertising. Ask almost any racer and they will tell you they know of spintech.

I voted spintech of course By the way, I took off all the soundclips and movies earlier in the month from my webspace so you'll probably run into dead links. I'll get a new clip up soon since my car just came back from the transmission shop, yet again.

I wouldn't let a Flowmaster anywhere close to my car. IMO they are junk. Spintech all way.

You won't regret that choice, believe me. Wait till you let your friends hear it compared to their flowcrappers. Plus, you'll have a better flowing muffler! -89IRO

I like my Spintech, it's a crossflow with a 3" IN and dual 2 1/2" OUT's, it's not as loud as a Flow at idle but has a very different type sound once you get into it a little, everyone asks what it is because it has a unique sound to it, so if you like being different it's a great muffler, plus it flows better than any Flowmaster.

89IRO, don't you think you are going a little too far with your constant remarks about Flowmaster?? I think it's too much. Is there other nice sounding exhausts?? Sure. I've heard many and the best have been Flowmasters while there are also many other people here that like them besides me. Please be grown up and stop the bashing. I and plenty of others don't like other exhausts but we don't go around saying ridiculous things about them every single chance we get. Joking as we do with the Hooka dude is OK, but even he will tell you that he has heard nice Flowmasters and when he says something we know its in fun and opinion, not all pissed off sounding BS directed at the most popular widely used exhaust no less.

NO. First of all, I was not trying to be all serious like you're implying I am, it's kind of hard to hear the tone of my voice through my typing. "Bashing" of flowmaster? Sorry if I offended you by calling it a "flowcrapper" deal with it. And no, I have never heared a nice sounding flowmaster, they all have a distinctive sound that I don't like (OPINION)!!. And I think there are other muffler companies other than Spintech that I think are great too, like magnaflow and dynomax. A lot of people say they like hooker, but I can't say I do or don't because I've never heared one. You shouldn't take this all personally. :lala:

I don't think he has a problem with you posting your opinion. I think he meant your bashing of flowmaster in every post you made was kind of excessive and not needed.

Once I get a new clip with my setup at WOT, you will never want another exhaust period

In all honesty.

I had a flowmaster with my old exhaust setup and loved it... BUT I just put in my 4" mufflex with the spintech and the spintech sounds a lot better I think. I heard that the spintech may out perform the flowmaster.

The bottom line is what kind of HP do you guys have in your car. I can see a big difference with you guys pushing 400+ HP, but for those stock applications or mildly modified (<400 flywheel) it really wont make a big difference. If you want to gain some HP get some headers - mufflers arent the way to gain HP. Pick the one that sounds better to you.

I was a flowmaster man in all the cars Ive had and to be honest with you I almost bought the flowmaster for the mufflex system but they didnt have 4" inlet and dual outlets thats why I ended up with the spintech 4" inlet/ dual 3" outlets. I wont go back to flows...

LOL! Some of you guys are fun to screw with. I agree too. Even though A LOT of people say most anything outflows flow"master", you probably won't feel it unless you've got 350-400 HP at least. Whatever sounds good to you is what you should choose. Have a nice day! -89IRO

Axle/Gears: Currie 9", 4.56 gears
Ok, here's a video that's a few months old now. Found out later that I had a big vacuum leak. Was wondering why the car felt so slow lol. Here's the zip file Details of the car are in my sig, also there is a little blurb in the video.
I'm trying to get a new video done but it's been raining. Kinda hard to launch a car and just have it spin all the way to 3rd gear lol.

If I didn't get my flowmaster for free I prob wouldnt have bought it, I prob. would have gone with hooker or something similar. But I couldnt pass up the flow w/ the 2 huge 30$ 3" tips.

Well, I think more people have Flowmaster therefore you'll find more people saying "Flowmasta da best man!". I'm pleased with Flowmasters on my Camaro (80 Series), and on my Nova (40 Series X2), but it's basically "trendy" nowadays, and that's no fun

BTW; Even though I have Flowmasters, I still laughed at "Flowcrappers", come on now, it's funny!

Which model are you going to get? I have the 343SC; that's what you want if you want it in the stock crossflow position. Tell us what you think once you get it installed! Later. -89IRO
