exhaust question...
I plan on getting a 350HO crate motor, and was told i should get the hooker 2055's (have to stay emissions legal). Will I need to get a 3inch cat, and what systems are made that are 3 inch and that will fit my car? My car is a 84 Trans Am 305HO

yes you will probably need a 3in cat.....The cheapest one I think is the Dynomax super converter($59 Jegs). The cheapest cat-back is probably Dynomax also. I had that system on my dual cat 91 Z 350TPI before rebuilding my motor....it sounds really nice and seems to flow excellent. ITs not very loud at cruising speed but has a nice tone when you get on it. The Flowmaster is reasonable also....but to me has an annoying resonance that gets into the interior imo.........Ive also heard the Hooker cat back before on an LT1...it sounded pretty good...but is more expensive.....just about all the major companies make catbacks for any year camaro....u just have to look around....Good luck.

I would reccomend the hooker cat back. It's kind of quiet (on a stock motor) at idle, but at WOT it gets loud. I'm running dual aerochambers right now and it sounds great.
Actually you're '84 HO car should have a 2.5" cat with a bolted flange on each end.
For bolt up, easy access, order a Catco direct replacement cat for a mid 80's Corvette.....it has the same bolt up flange, but it's 3" in /out. Use the Cheap Hooker catback and it will bolt right up.
Or, what I plan to do, use a Carsound Universal 3" cat ( $59 ) and either have it welded on both ends or have collectors welded on both ends so you can unbolt the Y-pipe and rear exhaust when you want.
