Air tube help

I just ordered new headers and they are coming with the air tubes. I am going to cap them off because I do not need emissions. So when I unhook all the pumps and hoses will I run into any problems with the computer or anything else?

why didn't you just get headers without air tubes? What kind did you get? And yes, you will throw a code.

I ordered hooker 2055s from jet hot so I could not get them with out air tubes. I got a pretty good deal with a military discount. I am just going to cap the header tubes off with a pipe plug. So how do I fix that code problem. Is it a big problem?

You'll have to have a chip burned and have them turn the A.I.R flag off.

Will it cause any harm or ruin my performance if I do not have that done right away?

no you wont throw a code... thats BS. If you block off your egr, thats something different, but not your AIR tubes. If that was true, then everyone running LT's and shorties w/o air would have to get a new chip. you will not thorw a code. The only way i could see a code is a ruff start, or a cat problem but that cat problem would only happen if you took the air tube from the cat off and allowed unburned fuel to clog it up.

I am taking off my cat and running a straigt pipe through. But I plan on taking all my air stuff off. Not just plugging the tubes. I want to take the smog pump and all that other junk that sits on the passenger side out!! So doing this, is that what you mean about the egr. And as far as me taking the cat off, does that tube still play a part?

your good. The EGR valve is something else. Just keep the O2 sensor and you will be fine.

Taking the smog pump and all the other tubes around it, should I see an increase in power? I have heard different stats on this. The O2 sensor cant come off? Does that have a tube going to the headers. I have not really gotten into all that junk on the passenger side to see where everything leads too.

Thank you, I hope that I am happy with my choice on Hooker headers. They have to be better than the 5 year old Dynomax I have right now.

And actually, how far down is the 02 sensor located on the exhaust. Because if I am removing the cat I will put a replacement pipe in that place or I might just get a whole new larger pipe to run from the Ypipe to the muffler. So if I do this where does that leave me with the 02 sensor.

No code for Air / smog removal......at least for me the last 9 months or so.

The O2 sensor is located in the collector of the driver's side header, so it comes BEFORE the Y-pipe so it's not a concern.
