Merge Collectors

Are they good or bad? Would they make much of a difference in a near stock 305 or 350? What is everyone's opinions on them?

youre talking about the y-collectors usually used for merging 2 pipes together on the y-pipe right? anyway, they are constructed flawlessly. it is a smooth and gradual transition. wouldnt make a huge difference on a stock 305 with stock exhaust. might want to look into getting a new y-pipe and catback.

I think that looks a piece that would flow well, but I'm not sure it would be necessary on a near stock, especially small cube engine. If you were making say, 400-500 HP, I believe then it could make a real difference.

I also found this. I was just wondering if you guys think it would be worth it on a near stock 305 or 350 third gen.

Considering that it only made a 2% difference on an engine that started out making 517 HP, if you get the same results on an engine that makes at most roughly half that HP, you're looking at about 5 HP. And at almost $600 for a pair, I think I'd look for a more proven thirdgen mod. My pockets just aren't that deep...
But if you gotta have them, that's up to you.

I'm not going to get them. I was just asking everyone's opinion on them to see if they would actually make a difference. I didnt really think about the percentage though. That was a good point. I'm just gonna stick with the hooker 2055's. I wonder if anyone has them on this site?
