List of concerns on 2055's

I have a 1984 LG4. So the problems that will confront me during conversion and afterwards are 1. no heat riser 2. need atleast 1 90 degree wire for number 3 or 4 cylinder 3. tight fit for plugs and must use short plugs such as accel 276S. 4. Need to strech out oy2 wire from factory harness. I sure want the high flow y pipe. Is the TES application just the same with the need for shorter plugs and a real bear to change. If I never go over 300 hp the Hooker's would be still be more power advantagous right?

You dont need to go with accel plugs. The stock ones will fit. You just need to use a short socket. I would reccomend 90 degree plug wires on all of the plugs as well. The O2 wire will fit. I believe you can order a heat riser from hooker, but why would you want to? Just get rid of it.

Get all 90 degree wires. I got AC Delco ones from like a 93 Suburban I think, they are 8mm and all 90 degrees. Also, Murrays has a lifetime warrenty on them. You can use stock plugs, but its tight. The O2 sensor is no problem. Mine was in looming, I just had to pull it out and move it a little.

Are their any advantages or disadvantages of having a heat riser. I have a dual snorkel air intake so would I just plug up the heat riser hole?

The heat riser will cause you to suck in hot air. That is bad. Just remove it and you will have no problems.

What should I do with the thermovac air doors?

Just plug the vaccum lines going to them.

For cold weather driving, disabling the thermovac is a bad idea. Off-idle stumble can get you killed.

Drag racing - okay, I'll grant that, go ahead and plug the thermovac vacuum. But, not for everyday driving.

Are you running a CC LG4 setup?

no, it's tbi. I could see the car maybe running slightly poor for a couple minutes on startup, maybe, but after that there wont be any problems. Mine runs perfect all the time. No ill effects what so ever.

The origin of the post was specific to the LG4, so that's why I asked. CC q-jet is a whole 'nuther story vs. TBI. Elimination of the thermovac is not a good idea on an LG4 system.

I believe the actual "heat riser" question related to the exhaust EFE, used on carb'd engines (that I know of, at least). The TES retains that part, whereas I don't know of any other header that does. I've been through two winters with the 2055's w/o the EFE with no particular issues (does make functioning thermovac all the more important).

Chevy High Performance Magazine suspects the EFE valve is restricting the potential of their "My Generation Camaro" 350, for what that's worth.

I didn't have to "stretch" the O2 wire as far as I was expecting to. There was plenty of slack within the harness; I didn't even have to pull the wire out of the bundle to get it to reach.
