Haha, if you're modded any, don't expect to pass the
smog tests. even 4 year old cars barely pass the
smog tests..

look around on jegs and summit for stuff marked 50 state
legal, I know hooker makes some headers that are
50 state legal, right?

or you could always wait till 2021, if you have a 91 camaro,
to move to cali. you don't have to pass the smog test
if your vehicle is 30 years old, I believe.

the only mod are going to do are (350 h.o. with vortec heads, ebelbrock intake, holley 670 tbi, accel igniton, and then a complete exhaust.) If that wont pass emision what if I get a po box in navada and register it there! thanks for the help.

I'm still waiting to hear of the first person to get a Vortec-headed engine through "real" California emissions inspection (under-the-table doesn't count).

You're treading thin ice on three issues: 350 w/TBI; Vortec heads; EGR (Vortec heads don't have the cross-over passages, so you'd need an external line from exhaust to intake manifold to make the EGR valve functional - whether it would pass visual, I have no clue).

You might be better off modifying a "regular" 350. Less likely to have visual inspection issues.

As for exhaust, you could probably get Hooker 2055, direct-fit '86-'90 TPI single cat, and most any same-application cat-back through visual and sniffer.

so you dont think it would pass "real" emission. so is that why the engine desciption said pre 76 cars only. so im better off with a regular 350. and the exhust is pretty much fine as long as I get the 50 state leagl stuff. Thanks for your help

p.s. whats this under the table stuff your talking about!
