Exhaust Cut out Placement..........

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I still cannot find my an answer to my problem. You see.....I do not have any cats on the car and do not want the sound blasting me out of my own car....sooooooo..... If I place the cutout right over the axle show here : http://www.installuniversity.com (click on installation and then click exhaust cutout...scroll down to fig. 4) Will I see any power gains at all???? I really want a meaner sound (sounds good now, but you can never have enough )

Thanks Again

You can put it wherever you want, the closer it is to you, the louder it's going to be.

The cut-out,from my experience and most others here, people buy them to bypass the cat for an almost open headers mod. Seeming since you said you have no cat, if you have a good muffler you won't have much a difference at all other than sound.

Well I called the local muffler shop and they aid they can fab me up one for about $60.00 (labor inc.). He said he can also put a flange on the end so in the future I can cap it off if needed (doubt that ). Looks like it is a go.......I would like to see some kinda gain in HP, but the sound is what I want the most. Just hope it is not too gaudy and poppy (rev high and you get that pap pap pap sound) like a glass pack. What does yours sound like when you hit it???? all replies welcome
