If you live in the US, for the most part yes. There are noise restrictions. The usual is 100dB's at 100ft i think... SLP makes the Loud Mouth exhaust sysem that doesnt use a muffler, but just a resonator in the I pipe. Sounds very mean and flows very well. If you wanted a set up like that, check out SLPonline.com and look up loud mouth exhaust. You can get a good idea of what im talkin about and maybe fab yourself your very own LM for third gens!!!

That is funny. I live in Denver and have the sniff test every year. My car has not had a muffler snice I bought it 4 years ago. Just the cat and then pipes to the duel exits. It sounds good and passes with flying colors, so why spend the cash on a high $ muffler? Heck I think I even pick up a few hp with it off.

If you want a '******* CAMARO" its best not to use a mulffer. However; in most areas they are required.
