Those w/ dual cats who've installed straight pipes

i'm trying to remove my cats here at home instead of taking 'em to a shop. i figure i can cut them and put 2 pipes from a parts store and clamp 'em. however the bracket that bolts to the hanger is part of one cat. since i'm an idiot at improvising things i'd like some suggestions on what i can do with the straight pipe to make it work with that hanger. here's a pic:

i cut right after that hanger, and then my grandfather welded the 2.25 new straight pipe right to the lip at the hanger.
