Summit Headers

Hi all, im thinking about bolting a set of summit headers to my 84TA, but wanted to know what modifications would need to be done to the Y pipe in order to get everything to fit.

well is it the stock y-pipe?if so you will have to cut the ends off of it and weld the reducers that come with the headers on there. I dont know if the stock y-pipe will reach up to the headers. I have the summit shorties as well and am just gonna run duals.

well what i plan to do is put 2 pipes instead of one in the stock location. But my buddy is bendin me the pipes and using the stock pipe as a referance. Its hard to explain but it should work. Im runnin 2 new cats in the stock location as well and just have 2 pipes made to come off the headers to connect to the cats. Best part is that my buddy isnt chargin me for it, yay

2dope, you getting a great deal. Sitting here, i just decided NOT to do anymore work to my 84TA. I just bought it hoping to bring it back to life, but the money i spent on it i can just buy a better third gen. and go from there.

260.00 for the car
200.00 in back reg
250.00 for the under the table smog
150.00 to fix the exhaust..

Not to mention other areas that need attention. Im hoping to score an 85 z28 for about 700 bucks, that has all the smog equip and has just be registred!

dude i felt like givin up on my 85 Z, but when i got the work done and i primered it, boy i changed my mind and im glad i didnt sell it. Especially after i strated it up for the first time with open headers, man it kicked a$$ lol. Just take a long look at your car and look at its potential, you might change your mind, but i am a camaro guy so if your lookin to get one thats cool to.

Oh ya, did you get the headers with the black paint on them? If so sand it off and get a good hi heat ceramic coat on em, that black stuff will just burn right off, as will a paint you get in a can.

I didnt actually buy the headers yet. The car needs work, and its a pain trying to get the car registered and smogged legally. im gonna pay close to 500 bucks in fees and shady smogging alone! It has potential, but i think i should start with a lil bit more potential. Im gonna make some calls and hopefully check out some other camaro/firebirds tomorrow.

ok if you get your camaro, you gonna do some mods on it? If your gonna do a dual set up, get the long tubes, i think the are way better. I woulda got em but my budget was low.
