Has anyone run their mufflers like this?
I'm researching the idea of true duals, and I'm sure this has probably been posted, but annyway. One main problem with true duals is that the mufflers, mounted under the floorpan, hit the ground. But if they were mounted more towards the rear, like in this pic, wouldn't that solve the ground clearence issue? Or would this cause problems of it's own? Thanks,

a few people have mounted their mufflers there, id suggest though using glasspacks or bullets coz they wont be offset because the way the trunk sits. If you use normal ovals then the right side will look awkward compared to the left.

If I wanted a true dual setup with ground clearance, i would have the pipes come over to the passenger side of the car like they are going to y, but instead have an X pipe, then 2 bullets where the catalytic converter would have been, then into either dump both or merger them into a big turndown.

Hooker makes "mufflers" that actually just hide inside the pipes. Thats what alot of people who hang sidepipes outside of their cars (ie. Shelby Cobra replicas, old Corvettes) do.
I once heard a '69 Corvette with what I think was a small block with a set. Sounded pretty nice, but was fairly loud too. Dunno if its a bad restriction though.

do a search in this forum for my name, i have 3inch true duals with summit welded mufflers sittin back there, sounds mean as hell also.
Flowtech, I think, makes mufflers that are dual in/dual out that will fit great where the cat used to be. And they are not restrictive at all because all that happens inside the muffler is the pipes cross. There is only an x-pipe inside the mufffler. So instead of using two mufflers and an x-pipe you can just get the flowtech muffler.

i'm probably going to use an exhaust setup like what willie has, except use a pair of bullets instead of the chambered mufflers like willie is doing.
