No headers for my application. :(
No headers for my application. :(
I dropped in a 455 Oldsmobile in my '86 Firebird and am in need of some headers for my motor. The whole time I have had to improvise, overcome, adapt: AKA spend alot more money, just to make this work but I fear the headers will be my doom. I finally dropped the motor in my car, got the tranny bolted up, and am now on a search, a very frustrating search, for headers. I know they don't make headers specifically for my application but I was wondering if headers for a '77-'87 Cutlass with a 455 Olds. would work? The G-bodies aren't that much larger, if any, than our F-bodies so wouldn't the clearances be close enough to install the headers in my car? Hooker makes some for that engine swap, they're PRICEY!!!! BUT they're still probably cheaper than custom headers. What is your opinion on the matter? Any advice/help would be MUCH appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that I have G body headers on my car. I don't know for sure because my dad had these headers laying around. they fit but needed alittle bending to keep from knocking the floor. Mine are also small block so I don't know how well ones for a 455 would fit.
hope thats helps alittle.

That's a start, thank you. The thing is I don't want to have to bend the headers, as if anyone does, but particularly with mine because I want to get the ceramic coated ones and if I have to weld on them, then it ruins the coating. Of course I could always get the uncoated, which are a $500 and then do what I need to them and then have them sent off to get coated.... Or should I be considering custom headers?

you could always buy to build a kit headers and build them yourself to fit.

I would just get the headers from hooker. They may be exspensive, but they should bolt right up without any fuss. Worth it to me...
